We have experienced brief intermittent unavailability throughout the past 24 hours caused by continual network attacks on our main web and email servers. During this period we have been working round the clock to ensure service disruption is minimal, and to implement filters in order to prevent attacks which throughout today have proven success.

On our network, we can see the individual Inflow and Outflow of traffic across all servers. Each server operates on a 1Gbit port providing full flexibility and bandwidth during peak hours when usage increases, at an average during peak hours we only operate at around 20Mbit, thus giving us maximum flexibility.

Yesterday we experienced a string of network attacks, the blue line shows an average of port usage. However the second graph is a more accurate representation of our usage across our VLAN, at the point where data is entering the switch - This shows average attacks between 500Mbit - 2.8Gbit throughout the evening.


Last night we implemented a filter which managed to prevent most of the traffic, but a MySQL Sock Failure during the early hours disabled SQL unavailability which was restored at 8:30am this morning.

Throughout today we have managed to filter most attacks, however at 15:00 GMT we received a large DDoS attack on Port 80, as well as at 16:45 which we managed to steady before it rocketed.
